CEC BiH holds meeting with Ambassadors of the “Friends of the Western Balkans” Group

Sarajevo, 30 September 2026 – The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina held a meeting in Sarajevo today with the ambassadors of the European Union Member States gathered around the “Friends of the Western Balkans” group.

The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to BiH Georg Diwald, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to BiH Jana K. Lolić Šindelková, Ambassador of Slovenia to BiH Damijan Sedar, Ambassador of Greece to BiH Ioanna Efthymiadou, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to BiH Ivan Sabolić, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Hungary in BiH Anikó Gyenge, and Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to BiH Roman Hloben.

The meeting focused on the forthcoming General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the activities undertaken by the Central Election Commission of BiH as part of the preparations for their conduct.

The ambassadors expressed their support for the work of the CEC BiH and their expectation that the forthcoming elections would be conducted in a transparent, professional and fair manner.

Particular attention was devoted to the introduction of specific election technologies into the electoral process. It was assessed that their implementation represents a significant step towards improving the electoral process in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including increasing transparency and confidence in the electoral process, and represents an important step forward for Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path towards the European Union.
