Delegation of the OSCE Secretariat’s Advisory Committee on Management and Finance from Vienna Visits the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Sarajevo, 1 June 2026 – A multi-member delegation of the Advisory Committee on Management and Finance of the Secretariat of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) from Vienna visited the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CEC BiH) today.

During the meeting with members of the CEC BiH, the focus was placed on the activities of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina related to the conduct of the 2026 General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, scheduled for 4 October 2026.

The participants discussed the support that the OSCE has provided to the CEC BiH to date, as well as its future support.

As part of the OSCE’s long-standing support, it was highlighted that 2024 was an exceptionally intensive year, marked by a series of activities aimed at strengthening the capacities of the election administration and enhancing the integrity of the electoral process. These activities included training for election commissions and polling station committees, training for election results controllers, development of digital applications, media and field campaigns for voter education, as well as a pilot project on biometric voter identification.

For the 2026 General Elections, new activities are planned to be implemented with the support of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina. These include the preparation of a manual for polling station committees, which will also cover the use of specific election technologies; the production of training videos on polling station procedures, including the operation of specific election technologies; the establishment of an e-learning platform for the training of presidents and deputy presidents of polling station committees; training for election commissions of basic electoral units; training for presidents and deputy presidents of polling station committees; and an information campaign aimed at encouraging young people to engage as operators and support technicians.
