Certification of Applications Submitted by Political Subjects for Participation in the 2026 General Elections Has Begun

Sarajevo, 29 May 2026 – At its session held today, the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina commenced the certification process for applications submitted by political parties and independent candidates for participation in the 2026 General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, scheduled to be held on Sunday, 4 October.

The deadline for the submission of applications by political parties and independent candidates expired on 22 May 2026 at 16:00 hours. A total of 81 applications were submitted to the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including 77 applications from political parties and 4 from independent candidates.

Today, the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina fully or partially certified the applications of those political parties and independent candidates that meet the conditions prescribed by law.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina will notify certain political subjects of any identified deficiencies or irregularities and instruct them to remedy them within two days of receiving the notification.

Following the expiry of the deadline for remedying deficiencies and upon the finality of the decisions of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a list of certified political parties and independent candidates eligible to participate in the 2026 General Elections will be published on the website of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In accordance with the Instruction on Deadlines and Sequence of Electoral Activities for the Direct Elections in the 2026 General Elections, applications for the certification of coalitions may be submitted from 8 to 16 June 2026, until 16:00 hours.
