Sarajevo, 07. 05. 2026– The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has to today's session adopted the Decision on calling and administering the General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2026.
The elections will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2026.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the Decision on concluding the Central Voters' Register as of May 6, 2026 at 12:00 p.m., according to which 3.414.364 voters are registered in the Central Voters' Register.
Every adult citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina is registered in the Central Voters' Register by obtaining an ID card. Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina residing abroad are required to apply for voting outside Bosnia and Herzegovina by 21 July 2026 on the official website of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina via the “e-Elections” portal, where user instructions are available.
The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina also adopted the Instructions on the deadlines and sequence of electoral activities for the 2026 General Elections, which will be held on Sunday, 4 October 2026.
Applications for verification of participation in the elections for political parties and independent candidates are submitted from 8 to 22 May. It is important to emphasize that applications for verification of political subjects, as well as applications for candidates and candidates' lists, are submitted electronically, via the online portal of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina “e-Elections”.
The election campaign begins on September 4th, and from today until then, in addition to the ban on paid political advertising, premature campaigning is also prohibited. This means that any form of presentation and promotion of candidates and party programs is prohibited.
Starting today, a special page on the Internet portal of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina entitled “General Elections 2026” will be active, where all information about the upcoming elections will be available, as well as all implementing and relevant by-laws and forms.
