CEC BiH met with the ODIHR Needs Assessment Mission ahead of the 2026 General Elections

SARAJEVO, 05 May 2026 – The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina met today with the Needs Assessment Mission of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) ahead of the 2026 General Elections.

The discussions focused on ongoing preparations for the announcement and conduct of the elections, including the activities carried out so far by the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the planned steps for the upcoming period. Special emphasis was placed on the application of specific electoral technologies and their role in improving the transparency, efficiency, and integrity of the electoral process.

Potential challenges that the Commission may face were also considered, including organisational, technical, and logistical aspects, as well as the need for further strengthening of institutional and operational capacities.

In the coming days, the ODIHR Needs Assessment Mission will publish a report with a recommendation on whether to observe the 2026 General Elections.
