Sarajevo, 18 December 2025 – At its 77th session held today, the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the Decision on calling and holding early elections for the Mayor of the Municipality of Vareš. The elections will be held on Sunday, 15 February 2026.
The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina also adopted the Instruction on deadlines for electoral activities for the holding of early elections for the Mayor of the Municipality of Vareš, which will be available to the public on the website of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, www.izbori.ba.
Applications for the certification of political parties and independent candidates to participate in the early elections shall be submitted to the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina by 23 December 2025, no later than 16:00 hours.
The final deadline for the registration of new voters voting outside Bosnia and Herzegovina is 7 January 2026, by 24:00 hours.
The election campaign begins on 31 January 2026.
In connection with the early elections held for the President of Republika Srpska, the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at today’s session, adopted an Order instructing the Main Counting Centre to open verification bag 002M#K600 and to prepare a specification of invalid ballots without security elements, by mobile teams, and by all security elements – stamp, watermark, paper, and signature.
The public will be informed of the time of commencement of the opening of the verification bag through a press release issued by the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
