Members of the BiH Central Election Commission observed the elections in the Republic of Serbia

Beograd, 18.12.2023 – Members of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dr. Irena Hadžiabdić, Mr. Jovan Kalaba and Mr. Željko Bakalar have, at the invitation of the Election Commission of the Republic of Serbia, observed the elections held on Sunday, December 17, 2023. 

Elections were held for deputies of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, for deputies of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, as well as elections in local self-government units. A total of 6.500.666 voters had the right to vote in 8.273 polling stations.

The goal of election observation was to increase understanding of different electoral systems and apply best practices in elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The observation missions of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina are also used to establish international cooperation with the election management bodies in other countries, all with the aim of exchanging experiences.

Members of the Central Electoral Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina met with members of Election Commission of the Republic of Serbia, but also with representatives of the state election commissions of Montenegro and North Macedonia, with whom they discussed the possibilities of improving mutual cooperation.

International cooperation represents a very important segment in the work of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and intensive international contacts will be continued in the future.
