Delegation of the BiH CEC at the meeting of Executive Board of the Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB)

Cartagena de indias, 13.07.2023 - The delegation of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina consisting of Dr. Suad Arnautović, the president and Mr. Vlado Rogić, member of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, participated in the 11th session of the Executive Board of the World Association of Election Bodies (A-WEB), which was held from July 11-13, 2023 in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.

A-WEB is the World Association of Election Bodies, which gathers 119 EMBs from 110 countries. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a permanent member of the A-WEB Executive Board, which also consists of representatives from Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania.

Dr. Arnautović is the only member of the A-WEB Executive Board from Europe.

Several issues from the competence of this world's highest professional body of election officials were considered at the 11th session of the A-WEB Executive Committee, including reports on work and financial operations, work plans in 2023 and 2024, implementation of ISO standards in the election process, and projects proposed by the Electoral Commission of the Republic of South Africa.

At the session, the longest discussion was held on the status of the state election commissions of the Russian Federation and Belarus, and on the request of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine for the exclusion of these election commissions from the World Association. The final decision on this will be made at the session of the General Assembly of A-WEB.

At the Conference entitled “Global view on the challenges of the regional elections in 2023”, the issues of digitalization of the electoral process, mandatory voting, women's participation in the electoral process, the creation of a communication strategy and other professional issues in the field of elections were considered.
