BiH CEC submitted 95 reports to the prosecutor's offices since the 2022 General Elections were announced

Sarajevo, 15.12.2022 - Since May 4, 2022, when the 2022 General Elections were announced the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has sent 95 reports to the competent prosecutor's offices due to the well-founded suspicion that a criminal offense had been committed, whereof 51 reports were submitted in the period from December 12 to 15, 2022. Each of 51 reports was submitted against political entities, because the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina found the names of deceased persons when checking the voters' signatures of support.

We remind the public that the Central Electoral Commission of BiH, due to well-founded suspicions of falsification of ballots, submitted reports to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH ex officio.

Also, all information that the Central Election Commission of BiH received from citizens, and that information related to abuses of voter registration outside of BiH and by-mail voting , for voting by mobile team, for alleged vote buying, were submitted to the competent prosecutor's offices through reports.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina continuously analyzes in detail all cases of irregularities within its jurisdiction.

Polling station committees and municipal/city election commissions found to be liable will be subject of misdemeanor proceedings, fines will be imposed to members for whom personal liability is determined, and they will be found ineligible to work in the election management bodies for a period of four years, and a report will be submitted to the competent prosecutor's office for the cases in which there is a suspicion that a criminal offense concerning the electoral process was committed.

Hereby we would like to inform the public that the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has received 13 decisions from the Prosecutor's Office of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton rejecting as unfounded the complaints of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the order not to conduct an investigation against the members of the polling station committees who ere engaged at the polling stations in the Local Elections in the City of Mostar in 2020. The Prosecutor's Office of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton states that there are neither grounds for suspecting that the accused have committed the criminal offense they are charged with, nor any other criminal offense that the Prosecutor's Office is monitoring ex officio.

In connection with the reports submitted to the competent prosecutor's offices against the members of the polling station committees after the local elections in 2020, the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has so far received notifications only from the Doboj District Public Prosecutor's Office, stating that they have raised 48 indictments.
