Meeting of the BiH CEC with Matthew Palmer, Eric Nelson and Kathleen Kavalec

Sarajevo, September 29, 20221 –  A meeting between the President and members of the Central Election Commission of BiH and the US Special Envoy for Electoral Reforms in BiH Matthew Palmer, US Ambassador to BiH H.E. Eric Nelson and the Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Ambassador H.E. Kathleen Kavalec was held today at the premises of the BiH Central Election Commission in Sarajevo.

 

The Central Election Commission of BiH informed the participants of the meeting about the key elements of the Initiative for the adoption of the Law on Amendments to the Election Law of BiH, which was sent to the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH on September 16, 2021. In addition, the CEC of BiH expressed the importance of introducing new technologies in the electoral process and informed the participants of the meeting that in that sense it had sent an additional budget request to the Council of Ministers of BiH.

 

The interlocutors expressed support for the efforts of the Central Election Commission of BiH and the dedicated engagement of this institution in improving the electoral system and electoral legislation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and expressed the need for the Initiative of the Central Election Commission of BiH for adoption of the Law on Amendments to the BiH Election Law to be most seriously considered in the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

The President and members of the Central Election Commission of BiH expressed gratitude for the continued support provided by the representatives of the United States Administration and the OSCE Mission to BiH in the work and activities carried out by the Central Election Commission of BiH.
