Head of the Delegation of the European Union and EU Special Representative to BiH Luigi Soreca visited the Central Election Commission of BiH
Sarajevo, 02.06.2025 – The Head of the Delegation of the European Union and EU Special Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Luigi Soreca, visited the Central Election Commission of BiH today, where he met with Dr. Irena Hadžiabdić, President, Dr. Ahmet Šantić, and Mr. Željko Bakalar, members of the Central Election Commission of BiH.
The main topics of the meeting were the activities of the Central Election Commission of BiH, with a special focus on the organization and implementation of the Local Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2024, as well as the planned activities for the upcoming General Elections in 2026. Successfully implemented pilot projects using new electoral technologies were highlighted, with a special emphasis on Pilot Project 1 – Voter Authentication and Transmission of Results, which tested the electronic voter identification system and the system of online entry and rapid transfer of election results from the polling station to the Central Election Commission of BiH, in order to determine modalities for the technological strengthening of electoral institutions and processes so as to minimize or eliminate the possibility of electoral fraud. This project was financially supported by the European Union.
Dr. Hadžiabdić thanked Ambassador Soreca for his support for the activities carried out by the Central Election Commission of BiH.
