Activities of the Central Election Commission

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has at its 39th session held on August 11, 2022 passed four decisions on sanctioning political entities for violating the provisions of Article 16.14 paragraph (3) of the BiH Election Law.

Decisions of the Central Election Commission of BiH are not legally binding and can be appealed before the Appellate Division of the Court of BiH within two days of their receipt.

According to the provisions of Article 16.14 paragraph (3) of the BiH Election Law, it is prohibited to conduct a paid election campaign shall be allowed by way of electronic and printed media, or any form of paid public advertising, except for the holding of internal gatherings of authorities and statutory bodies of the political entities, within the period between the day when elections are announced and the day of official start of the election campaign. In accordance with the Instruction on the deadlines and sequence of electoral activities for the General Elections 2022, the election campaign officially begins on September 2 and lasts until the beginning of the election silence, that is, until October 1, 2022, at 7:00 a.m.

We emphasize that it is only forbidden to conduct paid election campaign in the period from May 4, 2022 until the official start of the election campaign, i.e. until September 2, 2022.

Members of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dr. Irena Hadžiabdić, Vanja Bjelica-Prutina and Jovan Kalaba held yesterday, August 10, 2022 a working meeting in Banja Luka with members of the Banja Luka City Election Commission and representatives of the Banja Luka City Administration.

The City Election Commission of Banja Luka informed the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina about the challenges and activities carried out by the City Election Commission of Banja Luka and its expectations with regard to the assistance to be provided by the authorities of the City of Banja Luka.

The representatives of the City Administration of the City of Banja Luka emphasized that they will provide all necessary technical and logistical support to the City Election Commission of Banja Luka in the preparation and implementation of the 2022 General Elections.

The reason for the meeting in Banja Luka was the timely resolution of possible problems in the work of the Banja Luka City Election Commission.
