Meeting of the BiH Central Election Commission with Commander of EUFOR Major General Anton Wessely
Sarajevo, April 22, 2022 – The President of the BiH Central Election Commission, Prof Dr Suad Arnautović had a very fruitful meeting with the Commander of EUFOR Major General Anton Wessely today.
The President of the BiH Central Election Commission informed the EUFOR delegation about the preparations the BiH Central Election Commission is making for announcing the General Elections in BiH. The elections will be announced on May 4, 2022 and is planned to take place on October 2, 2022.
The topics disscussed were the activities carried out by the Central Election Commission of BiH in cooperation with the security agencies of BiH, the entities and the Brčko District of BiH in order to support these agencies in mantaining a safe environment for the smooth conduct of the electoral process in BiH.
They exchanged ideas on matters of mutual interest. COM EUFOR expressed EUFOR’s 100% commitment to a peaceful multiethnic and viable Bosnia and Herzegovina, underlining that EUFOR is fulfilling its mandate in an impartial way. EUFOR is not commenting on BiH politics. Its mandate is to support the BiH authorities in maintaining a safe and secure environment.
