Sarajevo, June 21, 2017 – After the Administration for geodetic and property affairs of Republika Srpska presented its new digital address registry on May 29, 2017, the same was done for the BiH CEC’s members by the BiH Federation Administration for geodetic and property affairs.
The president of the BiH CEC, Dr. Irena Hadžiabdić, pointed out continuous efforts made by the BiH CEC to introduce new technologies into the electoral process in BiH and she expressed satisfaction with the fact that other institutions have recognized importance of digitalization and data exchange.
The BiH Central Election Commission fully supports competent geodetic administration in implementation of their projects, because the BiH Central Election Commission will be able to use the data from the address registry via IDDEEA aimed at generating more updated and accurate voters’ list. Dr. Hadžiabdić believes this is to solve the problem of manual allocation of voters to the polling stations in cases when the voters’ address is marked bb (without a number).
Development and establishment of digital address registry is just one of the components of a huge project to improve land administration “CILAP” that is financed by the Government of Sweden, said at the meeting director of the BiH Federation Administration for geodetic and property affairs Željko Obradović.
